Tomatillo Salsa: 2023 Growing Season Favorite
Growing tomatillos in Mississippi, you ask? Yep, it can be done. We grew two varieties--a green and purple, which was really fun. They are a little more frost tender and take a while to get going because they thrive on the heat. We didn't put in but 12 plants so we didn't produce huge amounts, but the fruit was divinely tangy and full of flavor.
We roasted the tomatillos with garden jalapenos, onions and garlic before saucing. This is still a favorite among friends and family. Thick and rich!
